Pronto se convirtió en la\nrevista de humor de referencia del tardofranquismo, arrinconando a una envejecida La Codorniz, que empezó un acusado declive\nen las preferencias de los lectores.\nForges, Jaume Perich y Manuel Summers, colaboraban como dibujantes, y Francisco Umbral, Manuel Vázquez\nMontalbán y Manuel Vicent como colaboradores literarios. Otros destacados colaboradores fueron un jovencísimo Ops (El Roto),\nque debutó ilustrando la portada del número 1, y Emilio de la Cruz Aguilar, que con su sección \"Las cassettes de Mac Macarra\",\njunto con el peculiar y revolucionario lenguaje de los personajes de Forges, crearon un paradigma léxico de los jóvenes españoles\nde la década de 1970. La línea ideológica de la revista era de izquierdas.\nEsta revista publicó 213 números hasta el 6 de junio de 1976. En agosto de 2007 esta revista vuelve a salir a luz de\nmanera digital. En un proyecto conjunto de Ediciones Pléyades y la Universidad de Salamanca, se lleva a cabo la digitalización y\ncatalogación de los 213 números de la revista.
