Conviene entrar a esta película del egipcio Mohamed Diab con una mínima idea de lo que se va a ver, el momento sociopolítico de lo que cuenta y la excelente y arriesgada solución cinematográfica para contarlo. La acción transcurre en el verano de 2013, dos años después del derrocamiento de Mubarack y justo tras la destitución del presidente islamista Mohamed Morsi, con millones de egipcios en las calles manifestándose en contra y a favor del rumbo del país. Y Diab soluciona su empresa de captación con su cámara exiliada en el interior de un furgón policial en el que el ejército apelotona a los ciudadanos que hace prisioneros. Nunca sale la cámara del furgón, y teatraliza allí, entre reclusos de toda condición y sentimientos, el caos que se vive fuera y que la cámara atisba entre movimientos espasmódicos y con aire documental. Un minúsculo espacio para entender una beligerancia mayúscula; la claustrofobia hermanada con el prejuicio, el odio y el extremismo. La fuerte sensación de aturdimiento en el espectador, incapaz de entender y personalizar el caos de personajes y sentimientos religiosos e ideológicos, no es más que un reflejo de la mirada de Occidente a ese lugar lejanísimo.
