La Shababpedia es un sitio web que almacena contenidos multimedia -vídeos, música, artículos- creados por jóvenes nacidos en países árabes
La Shababpedia es una enciclopedia virtual de acceso abierto alimentado regularmente por gente joven de los países árabes y pretende ser un espacio de colaboración que ponga la juventud en el centro del escenario. La información es suministrada desde diferentes perspectivas y trata sobre las realidades de los jóvenes, sus expectativas y las producciones culturales de sus países. Los contenidos de la Shababpedia son contextualizados de forma que la información facilitada pueda ser entendida por todos los usuarios de internet, y no presentan ningún punto de vista como el "verdadero" o el "mejor".
La Shababpedia es una herramienta que forma parte del proyecto europeo SAHWA desde la que se anima a los jóvenes árabes a compartir sus puntos de vista sobre sus experiencias, situaciones y expectativas de vida.
El proyecto europeo SAHWA pretende analizar las tendencias y perspectivas de los jóvenes en un contexto de transición demográfica, política y económica en los países árabes del mediterráneo. Es un proyecto liderado por el CIDOB y financiado por la Comisión Europea, y cuenta con otros 14 socios: universidades e institutos de investigación de Europa y del Sur y el Este del Mediterráneo.
